Algonquin’s Wolf Den Lodge
…an outdoor enthusiast’s dream.

The Wolf Den is a year round lodge nestled on the edge of Canada’s most popular provincial park. If you are looking for the perfect setting to escape the city or are an overseas investor wishing to settle in the most attractive region in Canada, you’ve found it! see

Algonquin Park is the second largest provincial park in Ontario and is world famous for its wildlife (wolves, bear, moose …), extensive canoe tripping network, and fall colours (leaves turning brilliant red, orange and yellow). see

Located just 5 minutes west of the Algonquin Park West Gate, Wolf Den Lodge is perfectly situated to attract visitors from the large Southern Ontario urban region and overseas, all of whom all pass by our door when coming to Algonquin from Toronto.

In addition, spectacular Ragged Falls is located a short walk or snowshoe away and is ranked as one of the top 10 waterfalls in Ontario (along with Niagara Falls and ahead of over 600 others!). see

Each of our three main buildings are of classic log and / or timber frame construction and were built by professional craftsmen over the past three years. With a range of two, four and eight person rooms, these offer the flexibility to suit couples, small families and larger groups. In addition, small rustic log cabins attract those wishing for a “cottage experience.

Situated on 4 acres and surrounded by 40 acres of forested crown land, the Wolf Den offers the visitor a truly Canadian wilderness experience. Whether it be a log cabin in the woods, an apres ski sauna, singing by the campfire or a night in a teepee, we offer what Algonquin Park visitors are searching for.

In the Spring, Summer and Fall, the Wolf Den operates as a backpacker hostel, accommodating up to 68 guests, and rated “best hostel by EXPLORE MAGAZINE. Numerous guide books including LONELY PLANET identify us as the place to stay when visiting Algonquin Park, Haliburton and the Muskoka region.

Summer activities within a short walk or drive from our doorstep include fishing, canoeing, kayaking, backpacking, day hiking, swimming, photography, birding, canoe tripping and mountain biking. Algonquin Park offers daily interpretive programs throughout the summer, as well as the internationally renowned wolf howl which attracts up to 2,000 people per night in August. No Algonquin experience would be complete without visiting the world class museum, taking a self guided day hike on one of 12 interpretive trails or a visit to the logging museum.

A wealth of Winter activities are also available within a short walk or drive, making the Wolf Den an ideal central spot for groups of up to 30 guests to base their family outings, reunions with friends, or business retreats.

Snowshoeing, dogsledding, ice fishing, snowmobiling, tobagganing and downhill skiing (see ) are popular activities located within 20 minutes of the Wolf Den.
World class nordic skiing is offered on Algonquin’s 90 km trail network or at Arrowhead Provincial Park, located 30 minutes west. see www.

In order to make it all happen, the Wolf Den is conveniently located just a short walk away from Algonquin Outfitters which offers guided canoe trips and complete outfitting for all seasons. Serving Algonquin Park visitors for half a century, Algonquin Outfitters is a key stop for both groups and individuals who are heading into the park in any season. see

Many guiding companies take advantage of the excellent services Algonquin Outfitters offers in order to outfit their trips and find the Wolf Den an ideal staging base also.

Quote from Brad - EcoExplorations … still to come

The Wolf Den offers investors an excellent business opportunity as well as an attractive setting and lifestyle. Operating as both a summer backpacker hostel and winter nordic lodge, the Wolf Den fills two attractive and lucrative niches in the tourism market. Situated on the boundary between two of the most popular tourism regions in Ontario, Algonquin Park and Muskoka, the Wolf Den was nominated for new business of the year in 2003. In its first three full years of operation, sales have doubled annually with excellent growth potential for the future.

Opportunities abound. Because it was built with impressive style, the Wolf Den could operate in a variety of roles different from, or in addition to, the current operations. Premium lodge, exclusive restaurant, wilderness retreat, corporate group building facility, ecotripping base for overseas travellers, outdoor education centre, health spa, retail sales facility, art gallery, children’s camp and conference centre are just some of the very attractive possibilities.

Motivated to sell and open to financing suggestions and offers less than the $698,000 invested. ( An additional 4 acre waterfront property is also available within short walking distance at $99,900 firm.) Now that the building phase is complete, the owner is worn out, having invested a great deal of time and effort to fulfill ‘the dream’, which must now be redirected to his young family and full time teaching career. This is your chance to step in and enjoy the most impressive private endeavor to hit the Algonquin region in recent memory.
