Opened in 1989 this Rainbow Trout U-Catch has been recognized as the premier trout farm in British Columbia. This U-Catch boasts the largest Rainbow Trout in any U-Catch in BC. We cater to all people. We frequently host business tournaments, guide or scout groups, church outings and birthday parties. We have had 150 people at a time using our facility although not all fished at the same time.
Opened in 1989 this Rainbow Trout U-Catch has been recognized as the premier trout farm in British Columbia. This U-Catch boasts the largest Rainbow Trout in any U-Catch in BC. We cater to all people. We frequently host business tournaments, guide or scout groups, church outings and birthday parties. We have had 150 people at a time using our facility although not all fished at the same time.

The owner, who engineered these ponds, was asked to speak to his peers in order to explain the succesful design of the U-Catch. The fishing area is built to optimize the water flow, and the safety and comfort of all individuals including those challenged to spend their lives in wheelchairs.

If you buy our U-Catch we will include everything you need to continue the business.

We have 4 ponds, with 2 for fishing. #1 pond (so named because it was the first one we created) contains fish from 11 inches to approximately 15 inches. This is the usual choice of fishing spot for families with younger children.

#2 pond has fish from any size up to any size. We have had 20 lb fish caught in this pond that were over 30 inches in length. Most of the trout caught here are about 18 to 21 inches with both smaller and larger also in the pond.

#3 pond is where we encourage a few brood trout to lay their eggs and we have build a "ladder" with lots of foliage cover to assist the smelt to grow and encourage them to stay alive. This is our "Nursery" pond and we don't allow fishing.

#4 pond is a pond for water recovery. We don't stock it as it is there in case we need to recycle the water for any reason.

The family house has 4 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms, 2 floors, a very large living room with a bar and huge kitchen and laundry/utility room and a computer room/office.

There are about 1500 sq feet up and about 1900 sq feet on the main floor.

The master bedroom is 2 steps higher that the rest of the floor and is 20' x 24'. There is en-suite bathroom with a full size Jacuzzi and huge tiled shower.

The closet is about 12 x 8 feet and is used as a clothes and a linen closet. It's large enough for a baby's room off the parents room for quick access.

The other 3 bedrooms are as follows: 16' x 11.6', 13' x 9.6' and 15' x 9.6'. There is a full bathroom for these 3 rooms.

The stairway is open railing, with top quality, clear wooden rails and bannisters. The main floor is a wide open design with the ability to see from the front foyer (9' x 8') right through the huge 25' x 20' living room into the back. There are twin french doors opening out onto a concrete patio in the back. The bar runs along the back wall while the fireplace is opposite, in the foyer. We are leaving over 1 full cord of dried firewood in the wood room off the foyer.

The kitchen is 12' x 14' with sun ceiling, linoleum flooring, light oak cupboards throughout and floor to ceiling in the dining area which is 15' x 12'. The present owners have an electric Jen Aire range, there is also gas service to the kitchen if you wanted to change over.

The house is heated with a forced air gas furnace. There is also a modern wood burning free standing fireplace in the foyer.

The remainder of this floor is another 1/2 bathroom off the kitchen, and a huge utility room - 13' x 9' which holds the freezers, washer and dryer with plenty of room to spare. Here there is a large closet and another door for easy access to the back yard and trout ponds.

A door and stairs from the utility room lead down to a 5' high crawl space (so named because it has to be 8 ft to be called a basement)with concrete floor, which has the furnace, electrical panels and two huge 40 gallon fresh water holding tanks for household water use.

There is a smaller room 8 x 6 which is currently the "computer room" opposite the utility room.

The present owners have fenced off a grassy area in the back for private use, and about 3 acres is the U-Catch. There is a fourth 1/2 washroom on the outside corner of the house with a door that opens to the U-Catch so that our customers can use the toilet and wash their hands in a warm, clean environment.

Concrete sidewalks range from the bathroom to the "Bait Shack" and along the 3 ponds. The rest of the area is grass for the customers use. We have built a large Gazebo - 12' x 24' with a concrete floor to give our customers some protection from either the rain or the sun if they wish. We provide barbecues for them to cook whatever they bring or catch and a play area for the kids with 2 swings and a slide.

There is a large double car garage with workshop in the back, the setting is private and we have lots of perimeter trees to keep it that way.

We've also put in a huge parking lot and with our parking out front we can accomodate about 50 vehicles.

All in all we have made this a comfortable, friendly place to spend a few hours and a few dollars. It is a wonderful way to live, and the air is fresh and clean. It's a quiet place to live too, with little traffic or noise.

We have spent the last 12 years here. Our family has grown and moved, and we are now ready to do the same. This is a wonderful family business with lots of room for your ideas. We have 10.62 acres and there is a "buffer zone" of about 300 ft behind our ponds before there is another property. The 40 acres behind us are undeveloped as are the miles behind that one. This is an incredible place to live and work.

We are a recognized Aquaculture Facility with the government of BC, fully licensed and enjoy all the benefits of being such. We pay farm taxes, and have PST exemption on various items we use for the farm.

It has been suggested that this would make a fine "Bed and Breakfast" or perhaps something only you can think of.
