They are furnished to a high standard, as they are our holiday homes rather than just rental properties. The beds are large & comfortable, as are the wicker & reclining chairs. The kitchen area has every appliance you could possibly need in a home, including a blender for mixing up cocktails & a cafetiere to make that fresh cup of coffee in the morning! Towels, linen & soft furnishings are new & colour co-ordinated, creating a bright & cheerful atmosphere. Two large ceiling fans keep the apartments cool & comfortable, allowing you a good nights sleep. There is a daily maid, who will also provide a laundry service. Of course an iron & hairdryer are available for use by our guests. You are an easy stroll from an excellent selection of bars & restaurants, a well-stocked supermarket, Internet cafÃ© & local transport. It really is an ideal location!

Apartment #4 is a first floor apartment.

Apartment #6 is a ground floor apartment.

it is an ideal location for friends to visit together as the two apartments are close to each other, but far enough apart to retain some privacy!

Rentals may be for any length of time, vacancy allowing, and can start and finish on any day of the week.

Long term rentals may be available June to October in studio #6

LOCATION - Art Studios are located approximately 500 yards north of Holetown, on the Platinum coast of Barbados - so called because of the beautiful white coral sand. It is situated between The Discovery Bay Hotel and The Sandpiper, two well-known hotels on the west coast. Both these hotels are happy for you to use their pools and facilities during your stay, and will make you feel very welcome. But best of all â€“ you can be on the beach in a matter of seconds and just bob about in the Caribbean! Alternatively you can sunbathe in the garden amongst the beautiful tropical shrubs and flowers â€“ the humming birds and green monkeys wonâ€™t bother you! You are a 5-minute walk from top class restaurants and a wide selection of different bars. There are several banks and boutiques as well as duty free shopping in the vicinity. Many sporting facilities are available - golf, tennis and a well-equipped gymnasium that opens well before dawn! Despite all this fun the area is relaxed, laid back and peaceful!

FACILITIES - Arrangements can be made with a member of staff to have good, home-cooked Bajan food delivered to your dining table, if you wish to eat at home but do not wish to cook for yourself! So you have the best of all worlds! Although the apartments do not have a swimming pool, there are smart hotels either side that are more than happy for you to use their pools and facilities! The studios face inland so they gain maximum benefit from the cooling breezes blowing over the island. The gardens are immaculately kept & you will enjoy a beautiful array of tropical plants that you usually only see in greenhouses! The Bougainvillea is a riot of colour & the Frangipani flowers are small but highly scented. There are coconut palms, banana & grapefruit trees. It is a very sociable place to stay, & we have met many people from all over the world â€“ after sunset people tend to gather under the canopy in the garden & enjoy a drink together, whilst exchanging tips on good restaurants or excursions!

EATING AND DRINKING - There are numerous places to eat to suit all tastes and budgets â€“ all within easy reach of the apartment. For up-market dining we can highly recommend The Starfish - just a few minutes walk away. The Fish Pot at Little Good Harbour and La Mer at Port St Charles are both north of Speightstown, but well worth the 15-minute drive. The Sunday brunch at La Mer is probably some of the best dining on the island â€“ buffet priced at $125 bds each. Sample an excellent lunch from a street vendor, where the food is truly Bajan and freshly cooked - what more could you want? Chefette and Pizzaz are the Barbados versions of fast food restaurants - fresh barbecued chicken and enormous pizzas are available at these establishments. For well-priced, good fresh food, served by friendly, relaxed staff, visit Cocomos â€“ a 5-minute walk away in Holetown. We are regular visitors here and the bar staff are fabulous too â€“ ask Dave to make you a cocktail â€“ say Mike and Mary sent you! Happy Hour 4.30 - 6pm!

OUTINGS AND EXCURSIONS - So many places to visit and so much to do, and so little time! But don't hurry! Although you don't need to hire a car as the public transport system is excellent, it is fun to hire a moke or jeep for a couple of days so that you can drive around at your leisure, and discover parts of the island that other tourists may not reach! You should drive over to the east coast - it is rugged and beautiful - visit Morgan Lewis Beach and Bathsheba, having driven over Cherry Tree Hill, from where the views are truly stunning. We also suggest that you treat yourself to a catamaran cruise along the west coast - swimming with turtles, and sampling wonderful food and rum punch whilst on board - the island looks so different when seen from the ocean. A lunchtime tour of the Mount Gay Rum distillery is also an excellent good value outing! If you don't want to hire a car, a Jeep Safari is a very good way of seeing most aspects of the island in a day - of course it includes your lunch and drinks!

THE BEACHES - Coconut palms, Casuarina and Machineel trees fringe the beach at Discovery Bay, where our apartment is situated. You can sit quietly and soak up sun on a beach chair, or indulge in a variety of water sports - all of which are available from 'beach vendors' or bookable at The Sandpiper sports bar. There are buoyed off areas so that you can swim and snorkel safely without fear of being run down by over-enthusiastic jet skiers! Overall the bay is peaceful and offers something for everyone! The Folkestone Marine Reserve is a few minutes walk up the beach and is well known as an excellent snorkelling area over a beautiful coral reef. South of Discovery Bay is Sandy Lane - one of the most famous beaches and hotels in the Caribbean - all beaches are public so you can visit here if you wish. Payneâ€™s Bay and Mullins Bay are also well known beauty spots within easy reach. The East Coast is deserted and beautiful, but swimming can be dangerous due to the undertow â€“ so care should be taken.
