WHERE ARE WE LOCATED?
Iguana Golf & Beach Resort is located on the pacific coast of southern Nicaragua in the area of Tola, a two hour drive from the capital - Managua. The golf condominiums are placed approx. 350 meters (1150 feet, 5 minute walk) from the beach.

Closest "larger town" is Rivas, only a 25 minutes drive away. It takes around 50 minutes to get to the border of Costa Rica or to San Juan del Sur.

HOW IS THE SURF AT IGUANA BEACH RESORT?
With Nicaragua being the new Central American surf destination, we are proud to say that Iguana Beach is known worldwide for its two surf breaks.

Rio Colorado is a beach break, breaking off sandbars made by the river mouth. It breaks both directions. It holds up to triple overhead, and itâ€™s a fast hollow beach break, working on all tides!!! On high tide though, it gets less hollow.

Pangadrops is a rare right wave in Nicaragua. Itâ€™s actually a stone reef, that breaks way out sometimes. It is a soft and easy take off on the outside, and then it becomes hollow on the inside when it breaks over sand. It is almost two waves in one, and itâ€™s the perfect wave to get barreled on for long boarders.

Other spots nearby.
This area of Nicaragua is full of world class waves. Perhaps the most famous is Popoyo located just north of Iguana. This is a world class A-frame, which also features an outer reef (by some compared to pipeline). Just south of Iguana is another famous wave called Manzanio, A left point break with a nice and easy take off, and then on the inside it has a long barrel section.
